Abstract
Background: Dental health problems in children that arise are dental caries. Dental caries can cause pain. To reduce pain in dental caries, the therapeutic method of gargling with ginger water can be done. Objective: To determine the effect of gargling with ginger water on reducing the pain scale in children with dental caries problems. Methods: This study used a descriptive method with a case report approach. The data collection process used interview and observation techniques. Respondents of this study consisted of 3 children aged 8 and 6 years. Gargling activities with ginger water were carried out twice a day in the morning and evening, with duration of 3 days. The pain scale was measured using a numerical scale before and after gargling with ginger water. Results: The three respondents experienced pain in the graham teeth with a scale of 6 and the three respondents seemed to grimace with the pain. The action of the method of rinsing with ginger water to reduce pain in dental caries is carried out 2x meetings in 1 day where each meeting rinses for 30-60 seconds. The results of the evaluation of the action are a decrease in the level of pain in children from an average scale of 6 to an average scale of 3. Conclusion: The application of the ginger water gargling method is proven to reduce the pain level of dental caries in children.
