Abstract
Background: Gouty arthritis or arthritis is a disease that is often found in joints characterized by redness, swelling, and unbearable pain. Joint pain in people with gouty arthritis is caused by the deposition of monosodium urate crystals that accumulate in the joints due to high levels of gouty arthritis in the blood. If this happens, uric acid will accumulate and form sharp, needle-like crystals. Alternative treatments that can be used as an option, one of which can be sourced from natural materials. which are easily available independently such as shallot compresses to reduce the scale of joint pain in patients with gouty arthritis, giving shallot compresses can reduce joint pain, treat inflammation and provide analgesic effects. Objective: Describing nursing care for the application of shallot compresses to reduce joint pain in patients with gouty arthritis. Methods: This scientific paper was descriptive with a case studied approached. Data obtained from studied, interviews and observations with three respondents who suffered from gouty arthritis. Results: After applying onion compress therapy for 3 consecutive days the client experienced a decrease in joint pain by 2 scales per day. Recommendation: Joint pain in patients with gouty arthritis can be overcome by using red bawang compress therapy as a nonpharmacological therapy to treat joint pain, swelling, redness. This therapy can also be done independently by patients at home.
