Abstract
Background: Hand washing is a health behavior problem that is usually related to individual hygiene. To improve the ability to wash hand in children can be done with an interesting method through the application of the storytelling method. Objective: Describe nursing care with the application of the storytelling method to improve children’s hand washing ability. Methods: This study used a descriptive method with a case report approach. The data collection process uses interview and observation techniques. Respondents of this study consisted of 3 children aged 8 years. Storytelling activities were carried out 3 times using illustrated fairy tale books. Children's ability is measured using an observation sheet before and after storytelling hand washing. Results: The three respondents did not understand about hand washing, never washed their hands properly and washed their hands only when they were wet. The action of the storytelling method to improve skills in this respondent was carried out for 20 minutes 3 times. The results of the action evaluation are an increase in the ability to wash the hands of children from 1 to 6. Conclusion: The application of the storytelling method is proven to improve the ability to wash hands in children.
