Abstract
Background: Mental disorders are health issues that can profoundly affect individuals and families. Family knowledge about mental disorders plays a crucial role in understanding, supporting, and providing care for individuals with mental disorders. Conversely, religion and beliefs have a significant influence on societal views of mental disorders, including within the Islamic context Objective: To determine the family's knowledge description about mental disorders from the Islamic perspective in the Al Afiyat Room, RS PKU Muhammadiyah Gombong Method: This study utilized a descriptive design with survey approach. The sample consisted of 51 families of patients with mental disorders selected through purposive sampling. The instrument used in this study was a questionnaire. Univariate analysis (Descriptive Analysis) was employed for data analysis. Results: Families of individuals with mental disorders (IWMD) have good knowledge about mental disorders in general, Islamic perspectives on mental disorders, and mental disorder treatments Conclusion: Families of individuals with mental disorders have fairly good knowledge about mental disorders in general, Islamic perspectives on mental disorders, and necessary treatments. Recommendations: Future researchers are encouraged to implement educational interventions to enhance the knowledge of families of IWMD that is not yet optimal, and to evaluate its effectiveness in improving their understanding of mental disorders, Islamic perspectives, and necessary treatments.
