Abstract
Background: Appendicitis is an inflammation or blockage of one part of the large intestine, which requires surgery to treat the condition. The patient's chronic condition caused by appendicitis inflammation can lead to the occurrence of pain. The pain felt by appendicitis patients makes patients feel uncomfortable. An effort is needed to reduce the incidence of pain experienced by appendicitis patients by applying non-pharmacological therapy, one of which is Benson therapy. General objectives: To analyze pain nursing care in appendicitis patients with benson relaxation in the emergency room of Banjarnegara Islamic Hospital. Methods: This study used a descriptive case study design on 5 appendicitis patients, applying benson therapy and measuring pain with a numerical rating scale of 0 - 10. Nursing care results: Assessment of patients aged 20 - 45 years in patients with appendicitis. Diagnosing patients with pain due to appendicitis, the intervention applied is benson therapy. Evaluation of five patients on the nursing problem of acute pain obtained subjective data that the patient said the pain felt could be reduced after benson therapy. Recommendation: There is an effect of benson therapy to reduce pain in appendicitis patients. The innovation of benson therapy nursing interventions can later be used as a Hospital SOP (Standard Operating Procedure) for patients with appendicitis patients with acute pain nursing problems so that patients can apply benson therapy every time the pain arises.
