Abstract

Background : COPD is a collection of disorders that alter the flow of air into and out of the lungs. This can lead to hypoxemia and hypercapnia due to respiratory muscle weakening and obstruction, which increases air flow resistance and generates a ventilation imbalance. Strength training routines restore normal muscle length, allowing for increased oxygenation. Research Objective: The purpose of this study was to see how strength training affected COPD patients' daily activities. Research Method: The research approach is quasi-experimental, with a pre-test-post-test study design and a control group. Using the sequential sampling technique. The research sample consisted of 30 outpatients from the pulmonary clinic at PKU Muhammadiyah Gombong Hospital. The intervention group received strength training exercises after being divided into two groups: 15 intervention groups and 15 control groups. Both groups received the Barthel index questionnaire. Additionally, the paired t test will be used. Research Results: The paired sample t test revealed a significant influence on the intervention group, with a p-value of less than 0.05. Conclusion: Strength training exercises have an impact on COPD patients' daily life activities. Recommendation: Additional study could include a bigger number of respondents.
