Abstract

Background, Head injury is a sudden blow or impact to the head with or without loss of consciousness (Wijaya and Putri, 2013). Patients with mild head injuries can cause permanent damage to brain tissue such as brain ischemia. Increased brain metabolism causes increased brain oxygen consumption by the body. When the brain's oxygen needs are not met, metabolism will switch from aerobic to anaerobic metabolism. In this situation, lactic acid is produced which stimulates headaches. Objective: To analyze nursing care by providing therapy using Slow Deep Breathing to reduce the scale of pain in patients with mild head injuries at RSI Banjarnegara Methodology, using a case report approach (case study) carried out for 3 days on 5 patients with mild head injuries by implementing slow deep breathing interventions. Results, Shows acute pain associated with physical injury agents characterized by a decrease in the moderate to mild category pain scale with a decrease in the pain scale. The results of nursing action innovation Slow Deep Breathing relaxation therapy in mild head injury patients who experience acute pain show a decrease in pain scale, this shows that Slow Deep Breathing relaxation therapy is effective as a complementary therapy in lowering acute pain. In conclusion, Slow Deep Breathing relaxation therapy can be an additional therapeutic option to reduce acute pain in mild head injury patients. Recommendation, The recommendation of this study is the need to make standard operating procedures (SOPs) for the implementation of Slow Deep Breathing relaxation therapy
