Abstract

Background: Menstrual pattern is a series of processes that include the menstrual cycle, duration of menstruation, amount of menstrual bleeding, and menstrual complaints. If not handled properly, irregular menstrual patterns in women can have a serious impact on reproductive health, with the risk of increasing the likelihood of infertility. Objective: Knowing the description of menstrual patterns in class X students at SMK Yayasan Pendidikan Ekonomi Gombong. Method: This type of research is quantitative with an analytical survey design and a cross sectional approach. The research sample was taken using cluster random sampling technique with 158 respondents in class X students at SMK Yayasan Pendidikan Ekonomi Gombong in the academic year 2023/2024. This research questionnaire uses a menstrual pattern questionnaire. Results: The average age of the respondents was 16 years, with an average age of menarche of 12 years. Most of the respondents had a normal Body Mass Index (BMI) (46.8%). Respondents’ menstrual patterns according to the menstrual cycle showed that the majority of female students had a menstrual cycle of 21-35 days (96,8%). A total of (52.5%) needed 3-4 pads every day, and (86.1%) experienced menstruation with a duration of 3-7 days. All female students experienced complaints during menstruation differently, with the majority of complaints being dysmenorrhea (79.1%). Conclusion: The majority of grade X students at SMK Yayasan Pendidikan Ekonomi Gombong have menstrual patterns in the normal category. Recommendation: For futher researchers conduct research on the same theme, but with emphasis and discovery of factors and complaints that affect the menstrual cycle.
