Abstract
Background: Gastroenteritis attacks all levels and age groups, especially children, this is because children are still vulnerable because the body's defense system is not yet perfect Gastroenteritis is one of the main diseases globally which causes 1.5 to 2.5 million deaths every year. In children under 5 years of age, diarrhea symptoms are the second most common cause of death due to infectious diseases after pneumonia Objective: To explain nursing care for acute gastroenteritis patients with acute pain nursing problems in the Aster Room at Prof. Dr. Margono Soekarjo Hospital, Purwokerto. Method: This research uses a descriptive method with a case study approach. The sample consisted of 5 acute gastroenteritis patients. The case study instrument uses guided imagery SOPs and observation sheets before and after providing guided imagery therapy. Results: Results of implementation carried out on 5 patients, all of whom experienced acute pain nursing problems and were given guided imagery therapy for 15-30 minutes after the intervention ended 15 minutes then measurements were taken using an observation sheet. Then observed before and after therapy. After applying the therapy to 5 patients, the results showed a decrease in anxiety, a decrease in protective attitudes, and a decrease in grimaces. Recommendation: The results of this study can be applied to patients with complaints of acute pain to reduce anxiety, reduce protective attitudes, and decrease grimaces using non- pharmacological therapy. Conclusion: The results of implementing innovative nursing actions showed that there was a decrease in anxious attitudes, a decrease in protective attitudes, and a decrease in grimacing
