Abstract

Introduction, The surgical safety checklist is a document or checklist designed to ensure patient safety and improve communication among healthcare workers through a checklist form. Compliance with SSC implementation is influenced by various factors, including age, education, work experience, motivation, attitude, and knowledge. Purpose, The general objective of this study is to identify the factors influencing compliance with the implementation of the Surgical Safety Checklist in the Operating Room of PKU Muhammadiyah Gombong Hospital. Methods, This study is quantitative with a cross-sectional approach, where independent and dependent variables are measured simultaneously. The levels of knowledge, motivation, and workload are measured using a questionnaire. The level of compliance with SSC implementation is also measured using a questionnaire, where respondents are considered compliant if they complete the entire checklist and non-compliant if they do not. Results, The chi-square test results indicate a relationship between motivation (p value = 0,033) and knowledge (p value = 0,001) with nurses' compliance in implementing the Surgical Safety Checklist. However, there is no relationship between workload (p value = 0,194) and nurses' compliance with the Surgical Safety Checklist. Conclusion, This study concludes that the factors influencing compliance with the implementation of the Surgical Safety Checklist (SSC) in the Operating Room of PKU Muhammadiyah Gombong Hospital are motivation and knowledge. Workload does not affect SSC compliance because the procedure is a part of patient safety measures. Recommendation, For future research, it is recommended to include additional variables to identify other factors that may influence compliance with the implementation of the SSC.
