Abstract

Background: Hypertension as a chronic disease is influenced by various factors. Hypertension risk factors are divided into non-modifiable risk factors and modifiable risk factors. Risk factors that cannot be changed include heredity, gender, race and age. Meanwhile, risk factors that can be modified are obesity, lack of exercise or activity, smoking, alcoholism and stress. Research Objective: The aim of this research is to determine the effect of progressive muscle relaxation techniques on reducing blood pressure in elderly hypertensive sufferers at Posbindu, Kroya Regency. Research Method: This research uses quantitative analytical research methods. Sampling was taken using purposive sampling, so that the respondents in this study were 36 people using a progressive muscle relaxation questionnaire. Research Results: The research results are based on the ANOVA statistical test which obtained a significant value of 0.000. The P value in this study shows a P value < α (0.05) Conclusion: So it can be concluded that there are differences in blood pressure changes in treatment group 1, treatment group 2 and in the control group.
