Abstract
Background Diarrhea is a disease with symptoms and signs such as changes in stool texture to stool shape. These changes can be liquid, slimy and of course the frequency of stool >3 times a day. Diarrhea causes loss of fluids and electrolytes in the body through liquid stool. Diarrhea also reduces appetite and risks weight loss. Efforts to treat diarrhea are by rehydration methods to replace body fluids lost due to dehydration. Nurses who play a role in providing nursing care, especially in cases of children with diarrhea, can provide care in the form of monitoring the intake of fluids needed (intake output). Objective To explain nursing care for children with diarrhea in Aster room at Prof. Dr. Margono Soekarjo Purwokerto Hospital Methods This research method utilizes a case study approach. Through this type of research, it is possible to provide a comprehensive and detailed description of a condition or object under investigation. Nursing Care Outcomes Based on the case study conducted on five children with diarrhea, initial data showed that they defecated 4-6 times a day, with stool texture ranging from liquid to soft. This was indicated by the frequency of defecation, skin turgor, pale skin, and weak body. After being given nursing care with a diagnosis of diarrhea and implementation of diarrhea management, the five children experienced improvement in their condition and symptoms of diarrhea or hypovolemia decreased. Conclusion Nursing care given to children diagnosed with diarrhea results in improved conditions or reduced diarrhea symptoms. Recommendation It is expected that nursing care especially for children with diarrhea can be implemented and continued. In addition, it can provide interventions in the form of other innovations to overcome diarrhea problems.
