Abstract

Background: Hospitalization is a significant factor that can cause anxiety in children, potentially creating obstacles to nursing care and recovery. One effective therapy to reduce anxiety in children is origami play therapy, which helps develop fine motor skills and enhances motivation, creativity, skills, and determination. Objective: To describe nursing care for pediatric patients experiencing anxiety due to hospitalization using origami play therapy. Methods: This study uses a descriptive research method with a case study approach. The study sample consisted of five pediatric patients with typhoid fever experiencing anxiety. Anxiety levels were measured before and after the origami play therapy, conducted over two days. Origami play therapy was administered once each morning. The Hamilton Anxiety Rating Scale (HARS) questionnaire was used as the case study instrument. Results: The average anxiety level before origami play therapy was 21.4, while the average anxiety level after therapy decreased to 15.2. Conclusion: Origami play therapy can reduce anxiety levels in children during hospitalization.
