Abstract
Background: Acute Respiratory Infection (ARI) is a disease that often occurs and is still underestimated by Indonesian society. The World Health Organization says that acute respiratory tract infection (ARI) is an acute infectious disease that attacks one or more of the respiratory tract, starting from the alveoli (lower tract) to the nose (upper tract). Objective: To determine the relationship between exclusive breastfeeding and maternal knowledge with the incidence of ISPA at the Madukara 2 Community Health Center. Method: This research uses a quantitative analytical research design, using a cross sectional approach. This research used a sample of 51 respondents, the sampling technique in this research used simple random sampling. Data analysis used the Chi-square test. Results: The majority of respondents were aged 17-25 years, 22 out of 51 respondents or around (43.1%). The majority of respondents were educated at tertiary level, 21 out of 51 respondents or around (41.2%). The majority of respondents who gave exclusive breastfeeding were 30 out of 51 respondents or around (58.8%). The majority of respondents had parental knowledge, 24 out of 51 respondents or around (47.1%). Conclusion: The results of this study indicate that there is a relationship between exclusive breastfeeding and the incidence of ARI in children. The P-value is 0.005 (<0.05). And there is a relationship between parental knowledge and the incidence of ARI in the anal P-value of 0.008 (<0.05) Recommendation: It is recommended that further researchers be able to add variables for health support and support for increasing the incidence of ARI in children.
