Abstract
Background: Chronic diseases, such as hypertension, with prolonged treatment will affect the compliance of antihypertensive drug users. The 2018 Indonesian Basic Health Research mentioned an increase of 8.3% in the prevalence of hypertension. Low adherence is a serious problem for both patients and medical staff. Non-adherence will lead to a variety of other dangerous diseases such as stroke, heart failure and other life-threatening diseases. Research Objectives: Determine the relationship between patient characteristics and the level of compliance with the use of hypertension drugs in the Buayan Health Center Outpatient Pharmacy. Research Method: This research method is a cross-sectional descriptive-analytic design. The purposive sampling technique was used for sampling and 100 respondents were obtained. Data were processed using SPSS 26.0 and analyzed with the Chi-Square test. Results: The results of the level of compliance of hypertensive patients in the Outpatient Pharmacy of Buayan Community Health Center with the category of high compliance (23%), and moderate compliance (35%) and low compliance level (42%). Then, the chi-square test results on each characteristic gave a p-value > 0,05 except for the level of education. Conclusion: The level of compliance in the Buayan Community Health Center Outpatient Pharmacy is included in the low compliance level category as much as 42% and the level of education is the only respondent characteristic that has a relationship with compliance results of p-value = 0,014 < 0,05. Recommendation: It is expected that further researchers can conduct research on the efficacy of hypertension treatment in similar places with more varied respondent characteristics.
