Abstract
Background: Delivery process (labor) is always accompanied by pain. Physiologically, pain occurs because of the contraction of uterus muscles in the effort to open the cervix and push the baby's head towards pelvic. The labor pain (inpartu pain) of stage 1 is a physiological process caused by the dilation of the cervix, hypoxic muscle and uterine contractions, ischemia corpus uteri and the stretching of the lower uterine segment and cervical nerve compression (Bandiyah, 2009). Objective: To know the application of warm and cold compress to reduce labor pain of the first and the second stage during the delivery process.. Method: This study is an analytical descriptive with case study approach. In this case, the writer describes the facts of the assessment obtained from interviews and direct observation. This case study was conducted on April 14, 2017 to May 2, 2017. Result: After having intervension, the level of labor pain (inpartu pain) of stage 1 and stage II has decreased – from severe pain to be medium pain. Conclusion: The application of warm and cold compress is effective for reducing labor pain of stage 1 and stage 2 during the delivery process.
