Abstract
Background: Hypertension remains a major global health issue. The 2021 report from the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Indonesia indicates that the prevalence of hypertension in Indonesia has increased from 25,8% to 34,1%. Changes in quality of life are among the challenges faced by individuals with hypertension. Employment status, comorbidities, and medication adherence are the most influential factors affecting the quality of life of elderly individuals with hypertension. Objective: To describe the quality of life of individuals with hypertension in Selanegara Village Sumpyuh District. Method: This study use a quantitative research design with a cross-sectional approach. The sample consists of 83 hypertension patients selected using purposive sampling. The instrument used is the WHOQOL-BREF questionnaire. Results: The study results show that 55 individuals (67.1%) with hypertension have a good quality of life, while 28 individuals (32.9%) have a moderate quality of life. Among respondents with a moderate quality of life (92.8%) had better physical health compared to those with a poor quality of life (6.0%). Conclusion: The majority of individuals with hypertension in Selanegara Village Sumpyuh District have a good quality of life. Recommendation: Future researchers are encouraged to include additional variables that influence the quality of life of individuals with hypertension.
