Abstract
Background: Tuberculosis (TBC) is a contagious disease that remains a global health problem. Tuberculosis Preventive Therapy (TPT) is crucial in preventing transmission, especially for close contacts of TBC patients. Family knowledge and attitudes play a significant role in supporting the success of TPT, and education through leaflets is considered an effective method to enhance public understanding. Objective: This study aims to determine the effect of education through leaflets on family knowledge and attitudes regarding TPT at Puskesmas Nusawungu 1. Methods : This quantitative study employed a quasi-experimental design with a one- group pre-test and post-test approach. . The instruments used in this study is questionnaire. The study subjects consisted of 30 families of TBC patients at Puskesmas Nusawungu 1. Wilcoxon Signed Rank bivariat test was used to analyze the data. Result: The statistical analysis using the Wilcoxon Signed Rank Test showed a significant effect in knowledge and attitudes, with a p-value < 0.05, indicating that H1 was accepted. This means that education through leaflets significantly influenced the knowledge and attitudes of the core family members of TBC patients before and after receiving the educational intervention. Conclusion: Education through leaflets has a significant effect on improving family knowledge and attitudes regarding TPT Reccomendations: Future research is encouraged to evaluate the use of other educational media, such as informative videos, while considering social, cultural, and economic factors that support the success of TPT.
