Abstract
Background: Indonesian Health and Demography Survey (SDKI) in 2010-2013 shows that infection was on the third rank. This is due to poor perineal rupture care. The high rate of perineal rupture (wound) is influenced by the lack of knowledge about perineal care at home and also influenced by poor knowledge of midwifery care. The application of vulva hygiene using boiled betel leaf water is the latest innovation to accelerate the healing (recovery) of the perineum rupture and to prevent infection. Objective: To apply vulva hygiene using boiled betel leaf water to accelerate the healing of the perineal rupture of pospartum mothers. Method: This study uses descriptive analytic method with case study approache. The writer describes the facts obtained from Reed-scale observation sheets and documentation. Result: After applying vulva hygiene using boiled betel leaf water, there was accelerating healing of perineal rupture of 2 participants (Mrs. T and Mrs. R) and there was only one participant (Mrs. Ri) having normal healing. After being given care, 2 participants recovered within 6 days with good injuries and 1 participant recovered within 8 days with unfavorable injuries. This is due to the lack of knowledge and personal hygiene, and dietary restrictions as well. Conclusions: The application of vulva hygiene using boiled betel leaf water can accelerate the healing of the perineal rupture of postpartum mother.
