Abstract
Background: The choice of contraceptive is based on the intended use of delaying a couple’s pregnancy with a wife under 20, making pregnancy interval (fertility regulation), ending fertility. Choosing contraceptives may be influenced by knowledge, quality of family planning services, availability of contraceptives, availability of trained personnel and husband’s support. Objective: Knowing the application of counseling using booklet media about choosing contraceptives for fertile couple, the knowledge level of the couple before and after counseling, the couple’s participation in family planning. Method: This study is an analytical descriptive with a case study approach. The facts and data were obtained from questionnaire and documentation. The participants were 2 postpartum mothers. Result: After having choosing contraceptive counsel, there was an increase in lnowledge level, i.e. 70% (sufficient category) became 80% (good category) of participant 1. 65% (sufficient category) became 80% (good category) of participant 2. Conclution: The application of counseling using booklet media can increase the couple's knowledge about choosing contraceptive.
