Abstract
Background: The lack of breast milk production (32%) is one of the problems that obstruct exclusive breastfeeding (Health Dept of Indonesia, 2008). Back massage and breast warm compress can be applied to overcome that problem. This application can stimulate oxytocin reflexes and accelerate breast milk production. Therefore, the writer is interested in applying the application of back massage and breast warm compress to accelerate the breast milk production. Objective: To apply the back massage and breast warm compress to accelerate the breast milk production of post partum mothers in Independent Midwifery Clinic of Yuni Martini at Bumiharjo, Klirong, Kebumen. Method: This study is an analytical descriptive with case study approach. Data was collected from the assessment, examination, care provision, and observation. This application involves 5 participants as a case study. This study was conducted on March 15, 2017 to April 25, 2017. Result: After intervention, there is an increase of milk production, i.e. the highest volume – 2 cc became 10 cc (8 cc increase), and the lowest volume – 1 cc became 3 cc (2 cc increase). Conclusion: The application of back massage and breast warm compress are effective to accelerate the breast milk production.
