Abstract
Background: Postpartum period is the period that begins after the placenta has been born and ends when the birth organs become normal just like before the pregnancy. The postpartum period lasts for approximately 2-6 weeks. Breast milk is the best food for babies containing white blood cells, proteins and immune substances that are suitable for babies. Oxytocin massage is a solution to overcome the insufficiency of breast milk production. Objective: To apply oxytocin massage using baby oil for the production and expenditure of breast milk in postpartum period, to know the production and expenditure of breast milk before and after the application of oxytocin massage using baby oil. Method: This study uses analytical descriptive method. This writer describes the facts of the assessment obtained through interviews, direct observation, and documentation. Results: After applying the oxytocin massage using baby oil, the breast of the five participants become tense and the breast milk seeps before feeding, the baby BAK> 8 times in 24 hours, the breast feeding in 24 hours is > 8 times, and the baby will fall asleep for 3-4 hours after the breast feeding. The expenditure of breast milk of the five participants was average of 15.3 ml. Conclusions: The oxytocin massage using baby oil can increase the production and expenditure of breast milk of postpartum mothers, Tte expenditure of breast milk before was average of 3 ml, the expenditure of breast milk after was average of 15,3 ml.
