Abstract

Background: The decrease of breast milk production and expenditure in the early days after childbirth may be caused by the lack of prolactin and oxytocin hormones. These hormones play a role in the smoothness of breast milk production and expenditure. Oxytocin massage is one of the ways how to stimulate the hormone prolactin and oxytocin out. Objective: Describing the application of oxytocin massage in nursing care to increase breast milk production of spontaneous post partum mothers. Method: This study is an analytical descrptive with a case study approach. The subject was a post partum mother without breast milk expenditure. The data were collected from literature study, interviews, observation, medical records and nursing care, direct hospital admission and follow-up. Result: After having oxytocin massage in 3x24 hours, ineffectiveness of inadequate breast milk supply can be solved. Conclusion: The application of oxytocin massage in nursing care can increase breast milk production of Mrs. I Keywords : Oxytocin massage, breast milk production, spontaneous post partum
