Abstract

Background: Mortality and morbidity of pregnant and maternal mothers are big problems in developing countries. An advanced delivery of stage I active phase is the most exhausting moment. This indicates the importance of delivery assistance of skillful health personnel. This is because complication mostly happens during the delivery process. Therefore, applying upright position is necessary to accelerate the pushing down the baby’s head and the opening of cervical. This is because of the earth gravitation force than can shorten the stage I active phase of primipharous maternal mother. The witer is, therefore, interested in apply it. Objective: Applying an upright position for primipharous inpartu mother during stage I active phase. Method: This research is an analytical descriptive with a case study approach. The facts of the assessment were obtained from interview and direct observation involving 3 participants. Result: The three participants had an advance time or short duration in stage I active and the progress opening of cervical phase delivery for 20-25 minutes , i.e. participant 1 for 4 hours, participant 2 for 4 ½ hours, participant 3 for 3 hours. These happened after they had applied upright position. Conclusion: Applying upright position is effective to accelerate the delivery process of inpartu primipharous mother stage I active phase.
