Abstract

Background: Pulmonary tuberculosis (TB) is a contagious infectious disease. It is often found in the productive age of 15-50 years, especially those who live in one house with dump environment, dark and not ventilated. Indonesia is the fourth largest country having pulmonary TB after India, China, and South Africa. Research result shows that the self-image of pulmonary TB patients are physical, psychological and social changes. Objective: To know the nursing care for pulmonary TB patients with body image disorder in Muhammadiyah hospital of Gombong. Method: This research is an analytical descriptive with a case study approach involving 2 respondents. Data was collected through interview and observation. Result: After having nursing care by discussing with and motivating the pulmonary TB patients, there was a decrease in body image disorder indicated by being able to increase their confidence, by willing to wear a mask and long sleeve shirt and to interact with others. Recommendation: Development of Science and Technology of Nursing is expected to improve the nursing technology, especially phsycological nursing that can be applied on the nursing care of body image disorder.
