Abstract
Background: The amount of solid waste in the cities of the world will continue to rise by 70%. In 2016 garbage production in Central Java is 25.000 cubic meters everyday. Students still dispose garbage in the wrong places or anywhere. This is because theyhave low level of awareness in throwing the garbage. Objective:To find out the factors that influence the students habit of disposing garbage in Muhammadiyah Health Science Institute of Gombong. Method:This study is aquantitative research using survey design.The samplesare 240 respondents taken by random sampling technique. Data was analyzed by usingChi Square test. Result: Most of the students did not normally disposing of garbage in their place – male students (20%) andfemale students (37.1%). Based on chi square statistic test, there were 4 variables havingcorrelation with the disposing garbage habit, i.e.knowledge (Pvalue = 0.000), attitude (Pvalue = 0.000), infrastructure facilities (Pvalue = 0.003), and campus regulation (Pvalue = 0.001). Based on the logistic regression test,attitude is the most dominant influencing the disposing garbage habit (Pvalue = 0.000). Conclusion:Attitude is the most dominant factor influencing the disposing garbage habit of students of Muhammadiyah Health Science Institute of Gombong. Recommendation: Nursing students are expected to improvetheir attitude in disposing garbage better so as to keep the campus clean.
