Abstract
Background:Pulmonary tuberculosis is a chronic and contagious disease closely related with poor environmental condition. In 2015 there were 672 cases of new pulmonary tuberculosis BTA+ in Kebumen regency. There are increase as many as 435 cases compared to the incidence in 2014. Objective:To determine the correlation of the physical condition of a house (building materials, ventilation, lighting, occupancy density) and the incidence of pulmonary tuberculosis patient in the working area of Community Health Centre 1 (Puskesmas) of Sempor. Method:This study is a correlative analysis with case control approach. The samplesare 80 respondents. Data collection was done by using observation sheet, meter and luxmeter tools. The analysis was performed by univariate analysis and bivariate analysis using chi square and odd ratio calculation (OR). Result:This study resulting in the findings of the values of the building materials (p = 1,000, OR = 0,879), ventilation (p = 0,309; OR 0,519), lighting (p = 0,036; OR = 0,265) and occupancy density (p = 0,367; OR = 1.667). Conclusion: There is a significant correlation oflighting andthe incidence of pulmonary tuberculosis. Meanwhile,building materials, ventilation, and occupancy density have no significant correlationwith the incidence of pulmonary tuberculosis. Therefore,building materials, ventilation, lighting and occupancy density are not risk factorsof pulmonary tuberculosis. Recommendation:The pulmonary tuberculosis patient is expected to renovate or build a new house with good lighting and havinghealthier environment of his house
