Abstract
Background: One of the mental disorders of the elderly is impaired cognitive function. In elderly it is necessary to study cognitive function for cognitive function. Based on data from the Department of Health and Human Services, U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (2011) recorded 10 million families who perform voluntary care for individuals with cognitive impairment. The impact of the decline in cognitive function will lead to shift the role of elderly in social interaction, so vulnerable elderly feel isolated and feel useless. Objective: To know the relationship between cognitive function and social interaction in elderly in Posyandu Elderly Sidarum Village Sempor Sub-district Kebumen District Method: This research uses correlational method with cross sectional approach. Sample idea of 50 samples taken by purposive sampling. Data were analyzed using descriptive and correlative analysis using Kendal Tau test Results: This study resulted in findings of most respondents with cognitive function of the category of mild cognitive impairment (52.0%). The majority of respondents with sufficient category social interaction (66.0%). Conclusion: There is correlation between cognitive function with social interaction in elderly in Posyandu Elderly Sidarum Village Sempor Sub-district Kebumen Regency (p = 0.000). Recommendation: Posyandu officers are expected to continue the posyandu elderly activities such as motivating elderly to follow posyandu elderly and socialize the importance of social interaction for elderly so that health status and quality of life of elderly is increasing.
