Abstract
Background. Schizophrenia is the toughest form of psychosis in which the client does not have a connection with reality so that his thinking and behavior are abnormal. Low self-esteem is a feeling of worthless, meaningless and prolonged self-esteem due to a negative evaluation of self and self-ability, resulting in the client being incapable of socializing and isolation. Low self esteem is a symptom of mental disorder that prevalence it is 12%, in Indonesia in the year 2013. General purpose. Provides an overview of the application of occupational therapy to the self-concept problem: chronic low self-esteem. Nursing care. At the time of the assessment, the data on the client case study subjects seemed silent, the expression was flat and shallow, lack of eye contact, the client looked sad, and preferred to be alone. Authors get nursing problems with self-concept disorder: chronic low self-esteem, the authors develop a nursing plan, execute strategy implementation, and evaluate the activities. The planned action has been done by the authors namely the provision of occupational therapy for 7 times meeting with the results of the evaluation of low chronic self esteem problem resolved. conclusion. The application of occupational therapy in schizophrenic patients with low chronic self-esteem may decrease symptoms of low self-esteem and increase client self-sufficiency with low self-esteem.
