Abstract
Background: The satisfaction of elderly patients is closely related to service quality, such as therapeutic service of the nurses. Communication skill is a critical skill that a nurse should have integrated in the nursing care. Service quality increase can increase satisfaction of the elderly patients. Objective: To know the correlation of therapeutic communication service of nurses and the satisfactory level of elderly patients in Community Health Centre of Puring. Method: This research uses correlational method with cross sectional approach. The samples were 89 elderly patients taken accidentally. Data were analyzed descriptively and correlative analysis was done by using Kendal Thau test. Result: This research resulted in the findings that therapeutic communication service of the nurses in Community Health Center of Puring is fair (47,2%). The satisfactory level of elderly patients is also fair (57,3%). Conclusion: There is a correlation between therapeutic communication service of nurses and satisfactory level of elderly patients in Community Health Centre of Puring with p value = 0.000 (<0.05). Recommendation: Community Health Centre is suggested to conduct a training to inprove the nurses’ skill in therapeutic communication service for increasing the satisfactory level of patients.
