Abstract
Background: Head injury is a series of pathophysiologic events that occur after head trauma, which may involve any existing component, ranging from scalp, bone, and brain tissue or its combination. Head injury is one of the leading causes of death and disability in the productive age group and is mostly due to traffic accidents. Severe head injury is a traumatic or collision injury that is usually characterized by a decrease in consciousness and the value of its coma scale glas scale equal to or less than 8. Objective: To explain the nursing care given to clients with severe head injuries at emergency installations. Results: Of the nursing care obtained the results of clients who experienced severe head injury on average experienced decreased consciousness, headache, and the presence of airway obstruction. Effective suction action to free airway obstruction on client with nursing ineffectiveness problem of airway clearance. Conclusion: The result analysis the innovation of nursing actions are very effective to maintain the airway and meet the needs of oxygen in the body characterized by increased awareness or Glass Come Scale.
