Abstract

Background: Pain in the first stage of labor is a severe pain in a longer time. It needs handling to overcome the pain. The number of primigravida maternity mothers in Indonesia is 54% experience severe pain, 64% experience moderate and mild pain. About 37% of multigravida had severe pain and 63% had moderate and mild pain. Birth ball is a physical therapy ball to help reduce paind and can be used in various positioning, accompanied by a series of movements and massage. Objective: To perform midwifery care in mothers by maternal in reducing labor pain of stage 1 in Independent midwifery clinic of Midwife Aning Friyanti. Method: This scientific paper is an analytical descriptive with a case study approach. The study involves 5 participants conducted in March 20 up to May 05, 2018. Scale assessment of pain using numerical scale. Result: After using the birth ball, there was a change of pain from one to two scores of each participant. It was done in 30 minutes. The use of birth ball is able to keep the mother in a relaxed and comfortable position. Participant 1 decrease 2 score, Participant 2 decrease 2 score, Participant 3 decrease 2 score, Participant 4 decreased 1 score, Participant 5 decreased 1 score.
