Abstract
Background: Data of WHO showed that in 2011 the perineum ruptures happened in almost 90% of normal delivery, either with or without episiotomy. Besides, maternal mothers also have perineum wound during the delivery process. This wound can be overcome by non-pharmacological treatment, such as using karsen leaf extract. This is because karsen leaf contains saponin, flavonoid, steroids that can accelerate wound healing. Therefore, the writer is interested in applying giving extract of karsen leaf to ppstpartum mothers to accelerate the recovery of their perineum wound. Objective: To know the application of giving extract of karsen leaf to postpartum mothers for accelerating the recovery of their perineum wound in Independent Midwifery Clinic of Midwife Dwi Sumarni. Method: This research is an analytical descriptive with a case study approach. The data was obtained by REEDA scale and observation sheet. The participants were 3 postpartum mothers with degree II perineum rupture. Result: After having the application of karsen leaf extract, the perineum wound of all participants were recovered faster. This was indicated by the day of the recovery-the wound of participant 1 recovered on day 6, while the wound of participant 2 and 3 recovered on day 5.
