Abstract
Background: In 2017 the Ministry of Health of Indonesia reported that 25.440.084 infants in Indonesia suffered from diarrhea, either without dehydration or with mild/moderate dehydration, and severe dehydration. Most cases were severe dehydrated-diarrhea with incidence rate of 10.125.009 cases. This is because paents have lack of knowledge about preventing diarrhea of infants. Therefore, the writer is interested in applying audio-visual media for improving knowledge and attitude of mothers about preventing of diarrhea of under-five children. Objective: To know the application of audio-visual media for improving knowledge and attitude of mothers about preventing diarrhea of their children in the age of 1-5 years old in Independent Midwifery Clinic of Midwife Tri Winarsih. Method: This study is a quantitative descriptive with a case study approach. The participants are 5 mothers taken by using purposive sampling technique. Result: After having the application of audio-visual media, there was an increase in knowledge of all participants-from 60% to be 100% in category of excellent knowledge and an improvement in attitude-from 60% to be 100% (excellent category) Conclusion: The application of audio visual method is effective in improving the knowledge and attitude of the participants about the prevention of diarrhea of their under-five children.
