Abstract
Background: Postpartum bleeding (haemorrhage) is caused by a rupture of the birth canal, uterine rupture, preeclampsia, cases of thrombophilia, placental abruption, fetal death in the womb and amniotic fluid embolism. Haemorrhage of a labor can result in death during labor process. However, it can be prevented by consuming kurma essence because it contains vitamins that can help strengthen nerves. Besides, it can also promote blood circulation, cleanse the intestines, and accelerate the progress of labor process. Meanwhile, fresh kurma contains oxytocin hormone that can cause contractions in the uterus. This hormone will increase during labor process. A pregnant mother with weak uterine contractions during her labor process is usually given an injection of this hormone to improve the contractions of her uterus so that labor process runs well. This haemorrhage will increase during the post-natal period. This, inturn, will accelerate the blocking of bleeding, recovery process of anatomy and uterine function. Objective: To prove the giving dates palm (kurma) to prevent bleeding of maternal mothers during their labor process. Method: This study is an anlaytical descriptive with a case study approach. Data were obtained through interview, observation, and literature study. Participants are 5 pregnant mother with over 37 week gestasional. Result: Pregnant mother with gestational age above 37 weeks who were given 3x2 teaspoon of kurma essence a day. And the result was they had less blood and did not bleed during labor. Meanwhile, the blood release was 124 cc (participants 1), 108 cc (participants 2), 81 cc (participants 3), 94 cc (participants 4), and 70 cc (participants 5). Conclusion: Kurma (dates palm) given since the beginning of pregnancy can prevent bleeding of maternal mothers during their labor process.
