Abstract

Background: Hospitalization experienced by children caused children to become anxious. This impact is at risk of disrupting the growth and development of children and the healing procces in children. To reduce anxiety in children can be done by playing lego therapy. Lego is a constructive game that can improve children’s intelligence and creativity. Objective: Describe lego play therapy to reduce anxiety in preschoolers at Dr. RSUD Soedirman Kebumen. Metodh: The method of this researcher was descriptive with a case study approach. There were 2 subjects, two preschoolers who were treated in the Melati ward in Dr. Sudirman Hospital. Before playing lego, the researcher observed the child’s anxiety level using an anxiety questionnaire. Result: After doing the playing lego therapy, client anxiety levels which were initially 38 and 46 after doing lego play therapy changed to 27 and 35. Discussion: Lego play therapy is proven to reduce anxiety in preschoolers while in hospital. Conclusion: Further researchers can develop the application of lego play therapy to stimulate child development.
