Abstract

Background : Circumcision is something that is recommended both in religious and health contexts. In Indonesia, the number of boys who under go circumcision is 85% and will continue to increase along with population growth. On average, Javanese children undergo circumcision aged 5 to 10 years. The feeling of unpleasant or uncomfortable fear, called anxiety, is often felt by children before circumcision. One of the non-pharmacological methods used to overcome anxiety is distraction techniques. Distraction techniques can be done audio- visually using the “Upin Ipin” cartoon film. Objective : This study aims to determine the effect of audio visuals on the anxiety of pediatric patients at risk of infection. Method : This research method uses a quasi one group pretest posttest design using a sample of 92 respondents. Analysis : Analysis by looking at the results of observations using a vase before and after the audio-visual diffraction technique was carried out showed a decrease in the level of anxiety. The results of the analysis showed a decrease in the level of anxiety before and after the intervention. Recommendations : The audio-visual distraction technique can reduce anxiety in pediatric patients.
