Abstract
Background, The circulation of illegal cosmetics arises due to several factors, including high demand from consumers, where consumers are looking for products with cheaper prices, faster results, and a lack of consumer knowledge on how to recognize a product that does not have a legal production permit. Objective, This study aims to determine the role and efforts of the POM Center in monitoring the circulation of illegal cosmetics through marketplaces in the Banyumas work area. Methods, Qualitative research uses a descriptive type and data collection is carried out retrospectively. Results, The Banyumas Food and Drug Monitoring Agency (BPOM) plays a role in monitoring the circulation of illegal cosmetics through marketplace platforms through cyber patrols. These cyber patrols were carried out in 2024, resulting in 110 findings of illegal cosmetics without distribution permits (TIE), with follow-up actions involving the takedown of marketplace platforms. The Banyumas Food and Drug Monitoring Agency (BPOM) strives to address the circulation of illegal cosmetics through routine monitoring and inspections of cosmetic factories, outreach programs to raise public awareness, close collaboration with law enforcement, the application of technology and information systems for monitoring, and law enforcement and sanctions against illegal actors. Conclusion, The Banyumas Food and Drug Monitoring Agency (BPOM) conducted oversight of the circulation of illegal cosmetics through the marketplaces Shopee and Tokopedia revealed 100 findings. The findings suggest the need for increased oversight by the Banyumas BPOM to prevent further increases. Recommendation, Considering that many businesses still do not include their Distribution Permit Number (NIE) on marketplace platforms, a greater and more consistent role is needed in addressing legal violations committed by businesses to provide a deterrent effect.
