Abstract

Background: Nurses play an important role in providing quality health services in hospitals. Nurses are very susceptible to stress at work and are considered a profession that is at risk of experiencing relatively high work stress. This is because the demands of the workforce are very high, as well as health risks due to direct contact with patients and workload. Factors that influence stress are social support, self-meaning, spirituality and emotions. Objective: to determine the correlation between spirituality and psychology of nurses in the Inpatient Room of PKU Muhammadiyah Gombong hospital. Methods: This study used a quantitative research method with a cross-sectional approach. The samples were 106 nurses taken using the Proportional random sampling technique. Bivariate analysis was done with Spearman rank. The instruments used were the Multidimensional Measure of Religiousness/Spirituality (BMMRS) and the Depression Anxiety Stress Scale (DASS21). Results: The spirituality of nurses with a high category was 93 (87.7%). The psychology of nurses with a moderate category was 89 (84.0%). There is a Correlation Between Spirituality and Psychology of Nurses in the Inpatient Room of PKU Muhammadiyah Gombong Hospital with a p value (Sig.) of 0.023. Conclusion: There is a less significant or low correlation between spirituality and psychology of nurses in the Inpatient Room of PKU Muhammadiyah Gombong Hospital Recommendation: For the hospital should create alternative programs to improve the spiritual and psychological well-being of nurses such as capacity building, refreshing or rewards and awards for nurses.
