Abstract

Background: Blood pressure is the energy the body needs to flow and circulate within human tissues. Plaque that adheres to blood vessel walls can cause blockages, forcing the heart to pump harder. The harder the heart works, the higher the blood pressure, also known as hypertension. High blood pressure can cause symptoms of acute pain. Therefore, one effort that can be taken is to provide relaxation in the form of Buerger Allen exercises, which can promote physical and psychological calm and positive feelings. General Objective: To provide nursing care to hypertensive patients using Buerger Allen relaxation exercises to improve pain levels. Method: The final nursing research paper was designed using a case study method, with five hypertensive patients who met the inclusion criteria and were diagnosed with acute pain. The nursing intervention provided was pain management using Buerger Allen relaxation exercises for 15 minutes, performed three times daily for five days. Evaluation was based on changes in pain intensity before and after therapy using the Numeric Rating Scale. Nursing Care Outcomes: The results of the pain scale assessment before Buerger Allen relaxation exercises were obtained with an average pain score of moderate (5). After Buerger Allen relaxation exercises were administered three times daily for four days, the pain scale decreased, with an average pain score of mild (2). Recommendation: Buerger Allen relaxation exercises can be implemented in nursing practice to reduce pain intensity in hypertensive patients.
