Abstract

Background: Mothers have the possibility of giving birth to a healthy baby if the mother's nutritional status is normal both before and during pregnancy. Pregnant women with poor nutritional status will cause fetal growth disorders or low birth weight (LBW). Research Objective: To determine the relationship between the nutritional status of pregnant women and the baby's birth weight. Research Method: This research design used a cross sectional with a retrospective approach. The sample in this study was data from mothers who gave birth to babies at the UPTD Binangun Community Health Center, Cilacap Regency in 2020, totaling 281 data from pregnant women taken using a cluster random sampling technique. Data analysis used univariate and bivariate analysis with the Spearman Rank test. Research Results: Of the 263 mothers with good nutritional status, the majority gave birth to babies with normal birth weight, 253 babies (96.2%) and a small number with low birth weight, 10 babies (3.8%). Meanwhile, 18 of the 18 mothers with poor nutritional status gave birth to 18 normal birth weight babies (100%). Based on statistical tests using the Spearman rank test, it is known that the pv value = 0.401 Conclusion: There is no relationship between the nutritional status of pregnant women and the birth weight of babies at the UPTD Binangun Health Center, Cilacap Regency in 2020 Recommendation: It is recommended that the UPTD Binangun Community Health Center, Cilacap Regency be advised to increase the provision of education and information about balanced nutrition to pregnant women so that mothers are ready to undergo childbirth and minimize the incidence of LBW.
