Abstract

Background: Childbirth anxiety is a psychological problem commonly experienced by primigravida mothers due to a lack of experience, insufficient knowledge, and inadequate mental preparedness in facing the childbirth process. Anxiety that is not properly managed can have negative effects on the delivery process and the well-being of both the mother and the baby. One effort that can be made to reduce childbirth anxiety is providing education through video media that is easy to understand and engaging. Purpose: This study aimed to determine the effectiveness of educational childbirth video media in reducing childbirth anxiety among primigravida mothers at Tambak I Public Health Center. Methods: This study employed a quantitative approach with a pre-experimental design using a one-group pretest posttest method. The sample consisted of 33 primigravida mothers selected using a non-probability sampling technique. Data analysis was conducted using the Wilcoxon test. Results: The results showed that before the intervention, the respondents had an average anxiety level of 84.18. After the educational video intervention on childbirth preparation, the respondents’ average anxiety level decreased to 46.85. The Wilcoxon test results indicated a Z score of -5.161 with a significance value of 0.000. Conclusion: Educational childbirth video media were proven to be effective in reducing childbirth anxiety among primigravida mothers at Tambak I Public Health Center. Recommendations: Future studies are recommended to use research designs with control groups, larger sample sizes, and long-term evaluations to assess the sustainability of the effects of educational video media on childbirth anxiety.
