Abstract

Background : Tuberculosis (TB) is an infectious disease caused by Mycobacterium tuberculosis and remains a major health problem. According to the WHO, in 2022, Indonesia ranked second in the world for the number of TB cases, with 969,000 cases (354 per 100,000 population) and 144,000 deaths (52 per 100,000 population). In Central Java, in 2023, case detection coverage reached 118%, with a treatment success rate of 87%. Meanwhile, in Banyumas Regency, in 2024, there were 5,207 cases, with 100% coverage of suspected TB services. The success of therapy is greatly influenced by patient adherence to medication, which is partly determined by family support. Research Objective : To determine the relationship between family support and medication adherence among pulmonary TB patients at Sumpiuh 1 Community Health Center, Banyumas. Research Method : This quantitative study used a cross-sectional design with total sampling of 30 respondents. Data were collected using the Family Support Questionnaire and the MMAS-8, and analyzed with the Spearman Rank test. Research Results : The majority of respondents reported good family support (96.7%) and high medication adherence (96.7%). The analysis showed a p-value of 0.000 (p < 0.05), indicating a significant relationship between the two variables. Conclusion : There is a significant relationship between family support and medication adherence in patients with pulmonary tuberculosis. Recommendations : It is recommended to conduct a larger sample size and include other variables, such as distance to health facilities, economic factors, and the role of health workers in mediating family support.
