Abstract

Background: The problem of toddler nutrition is still a concern in Indonesia, especially regarding mothers' lack of knowledge in preparing nutritious food for children. Nutrition education is an important strategy in increasing mothers' understanding of the nutritional needs of toddlers. Objective: This study aims to determine the effect of providing nutritional education on the level of knowledge of mothers in preparing food for toddlers at the Posyandu in Sidodadi Village, the working area of the Puring Community Health Center. Method: This research uses a pre-experimental design with a one group pretest post-test approach. The research sample consisted of 75 mothers of toddlers, selected using consecutive sampling technique. Data was collected using a questionnaire before and after providing nutrition education, then analyzed using the Wilcoxon Signed Ranks Test. Results: The results of the study showed a significant increase in the mother's level of knowledge after being given nutrition education. The Wilcoxon test results show a p value <0.05, which means there is a significant difference between the mother's level of knowledge before and after the nutrition education intervention. Conclusion: Providing nutrition education has a positive effect on increasing mothers' knowledge in preparing food for toddlers. Recommendation: It is recommended that nutrition education be carried out regularly at Posyandu to increase mothers' awareness and understanding regarding balanced nutrition for toddlers, as well as involving health workers and Posyandu cadres in implementing educational programs
