Abstract

Background: Systolic pressure of at least 140 mmHg and diastolic pressure of at least 90 mmHg is classified as hypertension. Many individuals with high blood pressure are unaware they have this condition, earning hypertension the nickname "The Silent Killer." Objective: To identify the relationship between age, gender, genetics, dietary patterns, physical activity, stress, and obesity with hypertension in Kesugihan Kidul Village, the working area of Puskesmas 1 Kesugihan, Cilacap Regency. Method: This research is quantitative with a correlational design, using a cross-sectional approach. The sampling method employed was simple random sampling, with a total of 118 respondents. Research instruments included observation sheets, questionnaires, manual pressure meters, digital scales, and stadiometers. Data were analyzed using the Spearman rank correlation. Result: The Spearman rank analysis showed that factors significantly related to hypertension include age (p=0.000), gender (p=0.000), genetics (p=0.000), dietary patterns (p=0.013), physical activity (p=0.004), stress (p=0.015), and obesity (p=0.000). Conclusion: There is a significant relationship between age, gender, genetics, dietary patterns, physical activity, stress, and obesity and hypertension in Kesugihan Kidul Village, working area of Puskesmas 1 Kesugihan, Cilacap Regency. Recommendations: For future researchers, it is recommended to explore additional factors such as smoking, alcohol consumption, and dietary habits that may contribute to hypertension.
