Abstract

Background: Marriages that occur at a young age cause various problems for teenagers, especially teenage girls who already have responsibilities as parents. Mothers who marry early will experience multiple negative impacts, especially biological and psychological impacts as a result of their early marriage. Objective: To determine the description of the biological and psychological impact on mothers of early marriage in Bumijawa District, Tegal Regency. Methods: This research used quantitative methods with a cross-sectional approach. In collecting data, researcher used a questionnaire on the biological and psychological impacts of mothers with early marriages, which was processed using univariate analysis involving 61 participants, mothers with early marriages. Results: The research results showed that 47 respondents (77.0%) experienced biological impacts in the mild category, with the largest impact being on questions related to bleeding during first sexual intercourse. Meanwhile, 36 respondents (59.0%) experienced psychological implications in the mild category, with the greatest impact being on questions related to frequent disputes in the household. Conclusion: Early marriage has various impacts both from a biological and psychological perspective on early marriage perpetrators. This can affect their quality of life in the long term. Recommendations: Future researchers are expected to be able to develop further topics related to the impact of early marriage, including social impacts, economic impacts, and impacts in the future.
