Abstract

Background: Breast milk (ASI) is the best source of nutrition for newborns up to 6 months of age. However, there are still many post partum mothers who experience breastfeeding problems, one of which is ineffective breastfeeding. There are various causes of ineffective breastfeeding, including: fatigue, and the baby not breastfeeding well. Objective: To provide nursing care for post partum breastfeeding mothers who are not effective with the application of back rolling olive oil massage in the Flamboyan Room at Margono Soekarjo Hospital, Purwokerto Method: This research uses a descriptive method with a case study approach. The research subjects were 5 post partum mothers with ineffective breastfeeding problems in the Flamboyan Room at Margono Soekarjo Hospital, Purwokerto. The intervention given was an olive oil back rolling massage. Data collection was carried out using the nursing care format, Nursing Kit, and innovative SOP for olive oil back rolling massage Results: The results of the assessment on Clients I-V were that breastfeeding was not effective with indications that breast milk was not coming out much, saying that it was uncomfortable for her breasts to be swollen and felt tight. The patient appears that the milk is not dripping/gushing, and the baby is not able to latch on properly. Priority nursing diagnoses for all three clients, both Clients I-V, have the same problem, namely ineffective breastfeeding. The nursing interventions carried out include assessing breast milk output, providing education regarding correct breastfeeding techniques and breast massage to help facilitate breast milk flow, and monitoring the flow of breast milk and encouraging the mother to breastfeed with two breasts every time she breastfeeds and providing support to the mother to increase self-confidence. in breastfeeding. The results of the back rolling massage nursing innovation using olive oil for Clients I-V showed a reduction in signs of ineffective breastfeeding Conclusion: Olive oil back rolling massage can be an alternative non-pharmacological action to increase breast milk production in post partum mothers with ineffective breastfeeding problems. Recommendation: It is recommended to create a standard SOP for innovations in olive oil back rolling massage actions to facilitate the implementation of actions in the field
